2016 islander scholars

The inaugural class of Islander Scholars represented sixteen schools across five islands. In June 2016, all sixteen Islander Scholars came together in the first Islander Scholars Academy at Camp Pālehua In Kapolei, O‘ahu to explore what it means to be an islander. We grounded ourselves in our place—the ahupua‘a of Honouliuli—to learn about each other’s stories, push ourselves to think deeply about our kuleana in our senior years and in our communities, and celebrate one another as the first ever Islander Scholars.
